Supplement to environmental study ordered in Montana
April 5, 2005: Coalbed natural gas development in Montana's Powder River Basin will continue while the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) completes an addition to an existing Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a federal judge ruled on Tuesday, April 5. Federal Judge Anderson issued the order in the Northern Plains Resource Council (NPRC) and Northern Cheyenne Tribe vs. BLM lawsuit that was heard in his court on March 29, 2005.

Coalbed natural gas producers counter NPRC study
Jan. 10, 2005: In late August 2004, the Northern Plains Resource Council (NPRC) released two studies regarding reinjection/injection and treatment of the water produced in conjunction with coalbed natural gas. The studies, commissioned by the NPRC, were prepared by a team led by Jim Kuipers of Kuipers and Associates. The coalbed natural gas industry reviewed the studies and has provided technical comments to the regulatory agencies in Montana and Wyoming.

Three-year field testing program results released.
Laboratory results show no adverse changes in soils, crop yields, or irrigation water from coalbed natural gas produced water discharges.

Since 2003, a team of scientists has been studying soils and crops in the Tongue River drainage area in an effort to anticipate, detect, and analyze the effects, if any, of coalbed natural gas (CBNG) produced water on irrigated soils and crops located in the Tongue River basin. At the end of the first three years of the expansive study, the scientists conclude that there have been no adverse changes in soil properties. The analysis is part of the ongoing Tongue River Agronomic Monitoring and Protection Program (AMPP).  For more information on the AMPP, see:  www.tongueriverampp.com)

Fidelity recognized for environmental stewardship
Oct. 29, 2004: Fidelity Exploration & Production Company was recognized recently with a major environmental stewardship award from the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC). The Award was presented at the IOGCC Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City on October 18, 2004.

Frivolous Enviro Lawsuits Hurt Economy
Sept. 14, 2004: The House of Representatives passed H.R. 4571, the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act (LARA). While this legislation largely targets baseless tort lawsuits, it will also make great strides in stemming the tide of frivolous litigation initiated by environmental fundraising organizations. Regardless of the plaintiff, frivolous litigation chokes the legal system, kills jobs, and hampers economic growth.

Fidelity receives favorable court rulings in two legal challenges
Sept. 9, 2004: Fidelity Exploration & Production Company announced two recent favorable court decisions regarding its coalbed natural gas (CBNG) production operations in Montana. These decisions, combined with the previously announced settlement agreement with the Northern Plains Resource Council (NPRC) which essentially settled two other cases and removed the threat of another, marks a positive step in the development of this energy resource for the state of Montana.

Northern Plains, Fidelity Announce Settlement Agreement
August 25, 2004: A conservation and family agriculture group and Fidelity announced a settlement today that will result in better water quality monitoring on the Tongue River and cessation of wastewater discharges to several ponds.

Fidelity Receives BLM Award
Fluid Mineral Community Outreach and Economic Security Award
June 22, 2004: Fidelity Exploration & Production Company was honored today with a Fluid Mineral Award from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The environmental award recognizes Fidelity's community education and outreach efforts related to its coalbed natural gas production activities.

Written testimony of Michael C. Caskey, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity Exploration & Production Company. Submitted to the United States Senate Environment and Public Works Committee - March 24, 2004. The Honorable James M. Inhofe, Chairman.

Economic Impacts of coalbed natural gas development
In 2001, coalbed natural gas producers funded an economic study to determine the economic impacts of development within Montana.

Fidelity responds to DEQ notice
February 24, 2004: Results of additional water quality tests report an outcome well within the regulatory requirements.
